OMRON... MAY DAY...!!!, MAY DAY...!!!

As mentioned before by my collegues, this last month has been quite bit busy as we´ve been involved on our third challenge, "OMRON", wich will end up next week (due to a "democratic agreement"), wich personally makes me feel angry....!!!

I explain what I mean with "democratic agreement"... Last week there was an strike from lecturers side, due to economic & labour rigths. No doubt, we support lectures in such issues, but in the other hand, for us (students), it was a pain in the ass, bacause we´ve been in our own for four days..., with no help at all in order to carry on with the challenges.

This week we should have had our challange examn, but propossed by Aitor on monday, we did a vote in the classroom regarding to go ahead with the original dates for the examn or whether to postpond to next week, as the groups are delayed on their challenges. Obviously by majority vote, it was decided to be postponed..., but my feeling and how I have lived this last month, is like the rest of the groups didn´t do much during the productive time 😣, so regarding to the examn it means,  a bank holiday in between and two days less for further challenges.

Well, after the bouring bit, I attached some snapsots of both works made during the las three weeks...
Omron uses Sysmac as a programming language. the good thing of this software, has to do with the options it gives you at the time to program; structural language or what we call "Rele" language.

Attached some snapshots, regarding to the challenge and what we did on it;

1. Logo of the used software to do/achive our goals.

2. Wellcome screen: we created a design with several sreen to dive through.

3. Structural language. Used for the project, it gives as many tools to go through, but also many headaces... :-)

 2. Rele language. More used industrily speaking, as it´s much more visual to understand/work with...
3. Overview of the touch screen. Further down, some of the screens we created, wich simulates exactly an industrial platform.

4. In this case, we took a photo of the original project platform where we did all the wiring, plus configuration. All together made of our work, a pleasent achivement!

Till next time, See you folks...!!!!

10th WEEK

Welcome to ROBOTOKER blog:

This week we are involved in our third challenge, comunications challenge. To carry out this challenge we use OMRON devices. OMRON Corporation is a Japanese electronics company based in Kyoto. The main business of OMRON is the manufacture and sale of components, equipment and industrial automation systems.

In this challenge we practice comunications, I mean, how show the automation process informaton to the operator, the maintenance technician or to the industrial engineer. To show that information we are learning to program OMRON´s HMI (Human Machine Interface). The HMI is a touch control screen.

As you can see in the photography we can customize everything shown in the screen: the title texts, the manufacturer logo, the pictures, the location and size of all of them. The HMI also allows to control the PLC (Programable Logic Controler) process by tactile push-buttons like start, stop etc…
The following video shows you how the device works:

Finally I want to emphasize that this challenge seems to me the most difficult, due to the difficulty of learning a new software (Sysmac Studio) and the way to programming it, wich is Structured Text. So we will continue working hard and we will keep optimistic.

                                    Go on ROBOTOKERS!!!

WEEK Nº9

This week has been full of changes, on Friday for example it was exam day, although we did not have since we were in challenge 1 and in that challenge there is no exam, so we continue with the project, making the last improvements with the HMI screen (which we do not know because it did not work).

So on Monday with the change of challenge, which in our case we have gone to challenge 4 before we start, we continue with the last improvements of the previous challenge to leave everything perfect so that Aitor gives us the go-ahead.

Finally, with a delay of 1 day we started the new challenge of OMRON and started with some exercises after doing the challenge planning, we still do not know much about the challenge but we will inform you again next week.

In this image capture you see the program that we use for programming called Sysmac Studio.

Until next time!

Week nº8

This is the last entry to the blog, the last week we do a lot of things, for example; we have to do excercises fot empresa subject, deliver challenge exercises, study to English exam and present our challenge.
We have to finish the programme and some exercises this week.
The presentations are on Thursday, but we have one day more to finish it because we don't have challenge exam. The rest of the class have 6 hours the exam on Friday.

The English exam will be more dificult than I suppose, because you have to write a lot of words. I think that I have done well the exam.

Seventh week

Hello readers!!!
As you already know our team called Robotoker  is formed by Gotzon Pujana, Unai Inunciaga, Asier Zugazaga and me Ugutz Ojinaga.
The challenge in wich we are is the most complete of this course because it contains everything we study. It is based on a training model made by FESTO Company wich is a pneumatic parts manufacturer.

The procedure is the next: the pieces are stacked inside the transparent tube that you can see at the left. A pneumatic cilinder takes out a piece and the mechanic arm carries it to the conveyer belt. The sensors detect the type of piece that is: metallic, red or black. The conveyer belt starts moving and order the pieces in their corresponding store.
The training model includes two PLC´s (Programmable Logic Controller) who manage the whole process. They are developed by the famous SIEMENS Company.

By last we also have a robotic arm with an artificial vision camera. When a piece storage is full the camera takes a photo and recognizes the type of piece that the robot must move to clear the storage. The camera is made by COGNEX and the robotic arm is manufactured by MITSUBISHI.

Taking into account the skills that we have adquired during this course I think we will be able to create our own industrial engineering company
ROBOTOKER  technologies ™

6th Week

We continue with the challenge 1 both assembling and programming, this week we have advanced a lot after the complications we had with the computers that were not conceded with the plc, but after all Asier began to program the model 1 while Ugutz and I continued to do the last connections of the second model, but let's not forget about Gotzon who also continues working with the robot exercises.

In this photo you can see the plc we have for the model of the project.

In part in the subject of EIE Itxaso continues to focus and positioning a bit to continue with the work of Oihane so that the company can move forward and present some product in the future, this week a company email has been created, it has been created a logo, slogan and an organization chart.

And in this other photo you can see the logo that was created for the bamboo company, BambuME.

We hope that next week we will advance as much as this one.

Until next week!

5th week

This week we went through a robotics exam, but also we made a presentation of our robotic project in front of our class-mates... There, we exposed the main points taken in account in order to achive our goals. Both together putted us under high pressure, due to their difficulties.

Already passed the challange nº3 "ROBOTICA", we get involve in challenge nº1, called "FESTO EN EUSKOSKILLS".

This challenge has more to do with communications, involving a complex line with; a couple of PLCs comunicating with each other, pheumatics/mecanic devices, a Mitsubishi  robot and an engine controlled by a frequency controller.

With all this, we have to reproduce in two small boards an industrial line where with the use of a pheumatic mecanism and a robot, we simulate the sorting of different made or color pieces...

Obviously this is a part of the history, because in between we have to conect electricly the devices, conect the signals to the Plc and with the use of TIA PORTAL (a total integrating software), we have to able to make it work, so, GOD BLESS US....!!!

4th week

This week we haven't done a lot of things. We have had 2 days of class, Monday and Thursday. On Monday we had to finish all the work because next week we would have to sent the work to the teacher. On thursday we did nothing because we had a very important exam of 6 hours. In the other three days, we didn't have class but we went on two of them anyway, because we had a lot of work to do. The teachers not come, then we can´t solutionated our problems, we found help in our schoolmates.

3rd week

During this week we have done RobotStudio exercises. This exercises makes we to get the               correct skills to run the program properly.

RobotStudio is designed by ABB Company. It is divided in three parts: the robot, the                        controller and Rapid. The robot part involves it´s movements and axis positions. The
controller  reads the instructions and translate them into orders. And finally Rapid is
a programing, high performance language. It was developed by ABB and it´s the most
          used robot programing language.

RobotStudio is funny and I like it, but it´s not easy to manage so we have troubles
              to make the exercises properly.

Despite all, here is an example of our achievements...

2nd week

We´ve started with full power our 1st challenge... 😱
After reading challenge´s instructions we squeduled a calendar, in order to higlight the points of it.

Once known the main points, we also introduced a calendar in order to program ourselves and being able to know where we are in very single stage.

All Robotoker members have quite clear that, full filling RobotStudio´s exercices are with no doubt, is the most important bit so far.., but again, not forgetting others jobs to be done; english but also EIE tasks.

Attached some snapshots of our actual goal (become skillful on RobStudio..)

In this first screen, its shown the rotot on the RobotStudio plataform

On the second one, we show the language protokol to be used to make it work...

To finish, just remark that all the other teams on the classroom share the same feeling as us, too much work to do with no time to hesitate and having clear that it willnever be enough...

First week

A week passed since course started, and seems like this year there will be no time for joking.

The atmosphere for this week on the classroom, has been like "the cows looking at the train going by"..., the good thing, is the fact of having some remains from last year´s programming Step7 software, which is helping us to understand the PLC bit.
In the other hand, the robotics site, is a bit more complex,

No doubt, we are rolled in a two years deggree course, which will put all of us under pressure, but for sure at the end it´d have been woth...

This week also show us the other part of the course, splitted in two parts; the tecnical use of english and the company & business initiative.

All the aboved mentioned, has been for all of us too quick and maybe too less, but lets see how all develops...

Hope we can full fill our hopes and by the end of February we can be talking about success and labour offers!

1st day

Hi all!

Today they've been assigned the teams and number of members within the classroom.
Our team named "ROBOTOKER", consists of four members; Ugutz O, Unai I, Gotzon P & Asier Z.
No doubt, we´re expecting a hard but grateful year, which can be much easier with my team´s colleagues.

First task assigned to all of us was challenging, to make a toy/game for children. Our team decided to create a maize circuit game, rules of the game;
1. Every player has a plastic tap (red or blue)
2. Having a start point and using a plastic straw, every player has to complete de circuit just blowing the plastic tap through the whole circuit. In between, both teams have to save some difficulties added within the circuit such as a bridge, deflectors, etc....
3. The aim of the game consists in inserting the taps in other team´s start point.

(attached a photo with the circuit)

This is what has been all for today, hopefully tomorrow we´ll start with the stuff all are delighted to start with..., programming, robotics, etc...

So up to now, That´s all folks!!!
